Good Evening Resident,
In the wake of the Heaton Park Synagogue terrorist attack, West Midlands Police are increasing patrols around Wolverhampton and the rest of the region with a focus on any Places of Worship.Let's take a look at what your City Centre neighbourhood team have been up to this week.
What’s Been Happening
Arrests – A bumper Fifteen arrests were made this week on a very busy week for the Neighbourhood Policing Team. These arrests were made for varying offences but not limited to Threats to Kill, Common Assault, Assault on Police and recalls to Prison. There has also been an arrest made and an individual being charged with murder. PCSO Wykes carried out CCTV enquiries early on this week to attempt to identify individuals involved in the Robbery of a coat, with the offence taking place in broad daylight on a busy city centre street.
Community Engagement – PCSOs Wykes and Shotton paid a special visit to the Life City Church this week to talk to their Re-Generated Teenagers group. This is a group of our elderly community members that frequently get together for cake and a cuppa, aiming at tackling loneliness and keeping ourselves young at heart. Sam and I, handed out lots of safety leaflets, purse bells and trolley tokens, the conversations we had were fantastic and we felt we were able to provide some guidance on staying safe during the coming Halloween season. We were extremely proud to have been invited along to this group and delighted with the feedback that we received. Following this PCSOs Whalley and Spittle held another one of their Cuppa with a Copper sessions at the Costa Coffee on Dudley Street, to a decent turnout where they were able to listen to the communities problem and act upon them.
Guardian Patrols – Not only did we have our regular guardian patrols this week focusing on ASB and Violent Crime within the city centre, which thankfully caused no issues, we also had Servator Deployments Wolverhampton. These Servator deployments are carried out by specially trained officers who are also on the look out for suspicious behaviour and are ready to deal will individuals at the drop of a hat. An increase in uniformed and plain clothes officers were sent down to Whitmore Reans on Wednesday to offer support and monitor community tensions as it was the funeral for one of the shooting victims over a week ago. It seemed like this increased police presence wasn't necessarily needed but it was welcomed by the wider community.
Night-Time Economy – Only Friday for night time economy this week and as i am posting this at around 8pm on a Friday i will update you all of any incidents in my next weekly update, but so far so good, it's been a quiet one.
